Most European markets turned positive in afternoon trade on Tuesday as stocks on Wall Street were boosted by data showing that U.S. consumer confidence rose in January for the third straight month.
France’s CAC 40 was up 0.17%, Germany's DAX rose 0.25% and the EURO STOXX 50 climbed 0.13%.
Bucking the trend, Britain's FTSE 100 dropped 0.13%.
Earlier Tuesday, the U.S. Conference Board said its Consumer Confidence Index rose to 55.9 in January, instead of dropping to 53.5 as expected.
