ABUJA, May 15 (Reuters) - Nigeria's consumer inflation fell to 13.3 percent year-on-year in April from 14.4 percent in March, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Friday.
Growth in food prices, which form the bulk of the inflation index basket, dipped to 15.3 percent year-on-year from 16.2 percent in March, the NBS said in its latest monthly report.
Inflation rose on a month-on-month basis, with the composite consumer price index up 0.6 percent to 197.4 points in April.
"The rise in the index was caused by an increase in the prices of staple foods like yam, meat, vegetables and potatoes," the agency said. (Reporting by Randy Fabi; Editing by James Dalgleish)
