HELSINKI, April 9 (Reuters) - Finnish industrial output dived in February, with production in the key metal and paper industries shrinking by almost one third, and the speed of the downturn accelerated from January.
Industrial production adjusted for working days fell 22.2 percent year-on-year in February, compared with a revised 21.8 percent fall in the previous month, Statistics Finland (SF) said on Thursday.
Output in the forest industry -- a key sector for the Nordic country -- fell 31.9 percent, while output in the metals industry dropped 30.3 percent.
Manufacturing firms used 72 percent of their production capacity in February, nearly 10 percentage points less than a year ago.
Finnish exports also dropped 36 percent in February, according to preliminary data released by the National Customs Board (NCB) on Thursday. [ID:nHEL007063]
