KIEV, March 18 (Reuters) - Ukraine's current account deficit in 2008 soared to $12.9 billion from $5.3 billion in 2007, the central bank said on Wednesday.
Preliminary central bank data provided earlier in the year put the 2008 deficit at $11.9 billion.
Data showed that the deficit for goods and services rose to $14.5 billion in 2008 from $8.2 billion a year earlier. The positive balance for current transfers declined to $3.1 billion from $3.5 billion in 2007. (Reporting by Natalya Zinets, writing by Ron Popeski; Editing by Ron Askew)
