Too soon to stop making seasonal flu vaccines- WHO

GENEVA, April 29 (Reuters) - It is too soon for flu vaccine manufacturers to stop making the seasonal influenza vaccine and turn to making immunizations against the new H1N1 swine flu virus, World Health Organization director-general Dr. Margaret Chan said on Wednesday.

"At this point in time we do not see any evidence to say that we (should) stop the manufacturing of seasonal flu vaccine now," Chan told a news conference.

"There may be the possibility that the virus may die out and stop," said Chan, who has just raised the pandemic threat level to phase 5 out of a possible 6, meaning the world is at the brink of a pandemic.
