MADRID, June 3 (Reuters) - Spain's economy will return to growth in 2010, the Prime Minister said on Wednesday.
"The economy will begin to grow again in 2010," Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said in an interview with Spanish television channel Telecinco. In the first quarter, Spanish gross domestic product contracted 1.8 percent quarter-on-quarter and 2.9 percent year-on-year.
"We will move towards (economic) recovery as long as the global economy accompanies us," Zapatero said.
The first quarter economic data was very negative, but the second and third quarters will not be so negative, he said. (Reporting by Judy MacInnes)
