LJUBLJANA, March 9 (Reuters) - Euro zone member Slovenia's economy will shrink further in the first quarter of 2009 and by more than a contraction of 0.8 percent in the last quarter of 2008, Finance Minister said on Monday.
"The result in the first quarter will be worse than in the last quarter of 2008 but a positive growth is still possible in the whole of 2009 depending upon export demand," France Krizanic told Reuters.
The statistics office earlier on Monday said Slovenia's economy contracted in the last quarter of 2008, for the first time in almost 16 years. This brought economic growth in 2008 to 3.5 percent, down from 6.8 percent in 2007.
