BEIJING, Sept 7 (Reuters) - China last week announced new draft rules governing the Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (QFII) scheme, under which foreign portfolio investors may participate in the country's capital markets. [ID:nPEK33586]
The rules increase the maximum individual QFII quota to $1 billion from $800 million, and lower the minimum quota to $20 million from $50 million.
The State Administration of Foreign Exchange has set a $30 billion overall quota for the QFII programme, but an official said last week that only half of that has been granted so far in the form of quotas for institutions.
Following is a list of institutions that have been given QFII licenses as of the end of July, in order of date of approval, along with their quotas as of the end of 2007, when SAFE stopped announcing individual quotas.
