WASHINGTON, March 19 (Reuters) - Government action to restart troubled economies around the world should be done carefully to avoid disrupting trade, the top U.S. trade official said on Thursday.
The United States and the European Union agree that government action is needed to help restore growth, but "we want to make sure it is done in a thoughtful way that doesn't disrupt trade," U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said.
Kirk made the remarks at the start of a meeting with EU Trade Commissioner Catherine Ashton.
