Investing.com – Sterling Thursday bounced briefly against the dollar as U.K. GDP growth beat estimates.
The pound was up 0.06% at $1.2252 at 04:45 ET off a high of $1.2271 and a low of $1.2157.
Third quarter GDP was up 0.5% from the previous three months, compared with a forecast of 0.3%.
Year-on-year, GDP was up 2.3%, beating a forecast of growth of 2.1%, preliminary data showed.
The GDP figures were the first full quarter data after the U.K. voted to leave the EU in June.
GDP was up 0.7% month-on-month in the second quarter.
