LIMA, April 27 (Reuters) - Peru is investigating its first suspected swine flu case after an airline passenger arrived in Lima from Mexico with flu-like symptoms, Health Minister Oscar Ugarte said on Monday.
"There is a case with suspicious symptoms, which is to say general discomfort and a fever above 39 degrees Celsius," Ugarte said on RPP radio.
Peruvian health officials have been checking passengers at Lima's airport since Friday in response to a possible flu pandemic that has killed 103 people in Mexico.
Swine flu has also popped up in the United States and Europe, though so far only Mexico has reported deaths. (Reporting by Marco Aquino; writing by Dana Ford; editing by Terry Wade and Mohammad Zargham)
