WASHINGTON, Dec 17 (Reuters) - President-elect Barack Obama has chosen FINRA executive Mary Schapiro to become chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, a Democratic Party official told Reuters on Wednesday.
Obama has also finalized his decision to nominate Republican Rep. Ray LaHood of Illinois to become the U.S. Transportation Secretary, the Democratic official said. (Reporting by Caren Bohan; editing by Todd Eastham)
