HONG KONG, May 7 (Reuters) - Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. has agreed to buy Orientel Brewery from Anheuser-Busch InBev for $1.8 billion, sources said on Thursday.
AB InBev, the world's largest brewer, put the South Korean brewery up for sale earlier this year as part of an effort to raise money to pay back loans used for InBev's historic purchase of Anheuser-Busch.
An announcement about the agreement is expected to be released at 0500 GMT, said sources with direct knowledge of the matter. The sources were not authorised to speak publicly about the deal.
KKR declined to comment. AB InBev could not immediately be reached.
