TOKYO, Sept 29 (Reuters) - An adviser to Japanese Finance Minister Hirohisa Fujii said on Tuesday he did not see any big turbulence in current foreign exchange moves.
"I don't see the yen as rising sharply. In fact it is stabilising now," said Toyoo Gyohten, who was formerly Japan's top currency diplomat.
Asked about Fujii's remark that Tokyo might take action in the currency market if necessary, Gyohten said: "I think that's absolutely true."
Fujii on Tuesday officially appointed Gyohten, who served as vice finance minister for international affairs in the late 1980s, as his adviser on currency policy. (Reporting by Leika Kihara)
