TOKYO, May 29 (Reuters) - Housing starts in Japan fell 32.4 percent in April from a year earlier, government data showed on Friday, more than a median market forecast for a 22.1 percent slide.
Housing starts declined for the fifth month in a row as consumers grew cautious about rapidly deteriorating job and income conditions.
Orders received by 50 major construction companies in April fell 25.9 percent from a year earlier to 562.8 billion yen ($5.84 billion), marking the sixth straight month of decline.
