GENEVA, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Global airlines' profits will fall to $9.1 billion in 2011 from $15.1 billion this year, both much higher than previous forecasts, industry association IATA said on Tuesday.
But margins remain low and the sector's recovery is patchy, with European airlines underperforming those in other regions, the International Air Transport Association said in its latest financial forecast.
IATA's previous forecasts were for $8.9 billion profit this year and $5.3 billion in 2011. (Reporting by Jonathan Lynn; Editing by Stephanie Nebehay and Dan Lalor)
