BERLIN, 25 Feb (Reuters) - Germany's public sector deficit came in at 3.3 billion euros in 2008, or 0.1 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), preliminary data from the state statistics office showed on Wednesday.
The federal government showed a deficit of 15.8 billion euros, while German states were 3.6 billion euro in the red. Local communities had a surplus of 8.4 billion euros while the social security system had a surplus of 7.7 billion.
