SEOUL, Nov 11 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama said he expected the summit of G20 nations opening in Seoul on Thursday to outline mechanisms that will deliver broad-based and balanced global economic growth.
Obama, deflecting criticism over U.S. Federal Reserve's easy monetary policy, said the other members of the Group of 20 understood that U.S. growth was important for the wider global economy.
"It is my expectation that the communique will begin to put in place mechanisms that help us track and encourage ... balanced and sustainable growth," he told a joint news conference with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak.
Referring to the U.S. economy, he added: "The single most important thing we can do to tackle our debt and deficits is to grow." (Reporting by Alister Bull; Editing by Tomasz Janowski)
