Investing.com – French industrial production grew faster than forecast in March, official data showed on Monday.
France's statistics office, INSEE, said industry output increased 1.0% month-on-month in March, after it was flat in February. Economists had expected more modest growth of 0.3% during March.
According to INSEE, a continued decline in car production during the month was offset by an increase in manufacturing and mining and energy helped offset.
Following the release of the data, the euro was up against the U.S. dollar, with EUR/USD surging 2.28% to hit 1.304.
