NEW YORK, Oct 19 (Reuters) - The euro extended losses on Tuesday, falling to a session low of $1.3840 as traders cut back on risk following a surprise Chinese interest rate hike.
The euro was last trading down 0.7 percent at $1.3844, well off a session peak of $1.4003. The dollar also rose to a session high of 81.69 yen. Investors tend to buy the U.S. currency when risk appetite wanes.
