NEW YORK, Sept 16 (Reuters) - The dollar remained lower against the yen on Wednesday despite a government report that showed a rise in U.S. consumer prices.
The Labor Department said its closely watched Consumer Price Index rose 0.4 percent in August, after having been flat in July, a touch above expectations for a 0.3 percent gain. [ID:nN15416331].
Stripping out volatile energy and food prices, the closely watched core measure of consumer inflation rose 0.1 percent in August after rising 0.1 percent in July.
