NEW YORK, Oct 8 (Reuters) - The dollar fell to a fresh 15-year low below 82 yen on Friday after a report showed an unexpected drop in U.S. nonfarm payrolls in September, while the unemployment rate was unchanged at 9.6 percent.
The dollar was last at 82.15 on electronic trading platform EBS compared with 82.39 prior to the data. It fell as low as 81.93 yen.
The euro rallied sharply against the dollar to $1.3970 on EBS, up from the $1.3890 it traded at before the report. (Reporting by Nick Olivari; Editing by James Dalgleish)
