NEW YORK, Oct 15 (Reuters) - The dollar extended gains against the yen on Thursday after data showed initial U.S. weekly jobless claims came in lower than expected while the change in consumer prices, excluding food and energy, were more than expected.
The dollar rose to 90.28 yen after the data from around 90.17 prior to the release of the data. The euro rose to $1.4895 from $1.4887 just before the release of the data. (Reporting by Nick Olivari; Editing by Theodore d'Afflisio)
