Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Pharma & Bio-technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.98%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BRU:TNET), which rose 3.08% or 1.58 points to trade at 52.94 at the close. Meanwhile, bpost NV (BRU:BPOST) added 2.87% or 0.74 points to end at 26.50 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI) was up 2.35% or 2.55 points to 110.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Umicore NV (BRU:UMI), which fell 1.66% or 0.66 points to trade at 39.20 at the close. Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) declined 1.27% or 1.55 points to end at 120.20 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB) was down 0.47% or 0.65 points to 138.55.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 100 to 67 and 3 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.42% or 4.60 to $1090.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.08% or 1.45 to hit $45.67 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 4.26% or 2.23 to trade at $49.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.0956, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.7027.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 97.56.
