Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.61%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delhaize Group (BR:DELB), which rose 1.78% or 1.69 points to trade at 96.88 at the close. Meanwhile, Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) fell 0.43% or 0.21 points to end at 49.95 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was down 0.61% or 0.17 points to 27.91 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ageas (BR:AGES), which fell 4.66% or 1.435 points to trade at 29.375 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 3.26% or 2.75 points to end at 81.68 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was down 2.38% or 2.60 points to 106.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 111 to 30 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ageas (BR:AGES) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.66% or 1.435 to 29.375.
Gold for August delivery was up 1.36% or 18.20 to $1357.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.29% or 2.10 to hit $46.89 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 4.01% or 2.01 to trade at $48.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.1084, while EUR/GBP rose 1.29% to 0.8499.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 96.13.
