PARIS, Nov 11 (Reuters) - French consumers expect to cut their Christmas spending because of the worsening economic outlook, according to a survey published in the business daily La Tribune and released on Tuesday.
The survey, by consultants Deloitte found that 53 percent of French consumers expected to buy fewer Christmas presents than in previous years, with two-thirds of those surveyed feeling that their spending power has been declining.
Deloitte estimated that Christmas spending could be down 6.7 percent, while spending on food could be down 2 percent.
"In short, Christmas will not be the little consumption bubble unleashed in previous years," La Tribune said. (Writing by James Mackenzie)
