Investing.com - The euro was steady against the dollar on Thursday after the European Central Bank kept interest rates on hold and said a further monetary policy announcement would follow at its post policy meeting press conference.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% at 1.1631, almost unchanged from 1.1628 before the rate announcement.
The ECB kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged at a record-low 0.05%, in line with market expectations. It also held its marginal lending rate at 0.30% and left its deposit facility rate unchanged at minus 0.20%.
In a press release accompanying the rate decision the bank said further monetary policy measures would be announced at a press conference with President Mario Draghi at 13.30 GMT.
Expectations have been building that the ECB will embark on a large scale quantitative easing program, in a bid to spur growth and bolster inflation expectations in the euro area.
The euro was little changed against the yen, with EUR/JPY at 136.90.
