Investing.com – Australia’s dollar erased earlier losses against its U.S. counterpart on Thursday, rising to hit a fresh daily high, after a raft of mixed U.S. economic data.
AUD/USD hit 0.9394 during European afternoon trade, a daily high; the pair subsequently consolidated at 0.9390, gaining 0.08%.
The pair was likely to find support at 0.9204, the low of September 10, and resistance at 0.9456, the high of September 14.
Earlier in the day, official data showed that U.S. initial jobless claims fell to a seasonally adjusted 450K in the week ending September 10, after falling to a revised 453K in the preceding week.
Analysts had expected initial jobless claims to rise to 460K in the week ending September 10.
Meanwhile, a separate report showed that an index of manufacturing conditions in Philadelphia rose less-than-expected in September.
Meanwhile, the Aussie was down against the euro, with EUR/AUD gaining 0.64% to hit 1.3959.
Also Thursday, official data showed that net foreign investment in the U.S. rose unexpectedly in July, while U.S. producer price inflation increased more-than-expected in August.
