BRUSSELS, March 19 (Reuters) - The European Union needs no new fiscal stimulus packages, its presidency said ahead of a meeting of EU leaders set on Thursday to resist U.S. calls to inject new cash into their economies.
"We are doing enough," Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek, whose country holds the rotating EU presidency, said.
"Some of us have not quite yet implemented our national recovery plans, so we don't know their impact. It does not make sense to introduce new packages," Topolanek told reporters.
Topolanek said the EU should agree to propose that April's G20 talks double the International Monetary Fund's firepower to tackle the global recession. (Reporting by Ingrid Melander; Editing by Dale Hudson)
