BRUSSELS, Sept 16 (Reuters) - European Union leaders will press the G20 this week to conclude the Doha round of world trade talks in 2010 as part of efforts to boost dwindling global trade, still suffering from the economic crisis.
"The G20 should ... continue to press for progress in trade liberalisation, including with regard to a global, ambitious and balanced conclusion of the Doha negotiations in 2010, as agreed at (the) G8 summit in l'Aquila," a draft document prepared for Thursday's meeting of the EU's 27 leaders showed.
"In this respect, a realistic and ambitious roadmap should be agreed."
Negotiators on Tuesday resumed efforts to conclude the talks, which stalled last year in Geneva ahead of next week's meeting of the Group of 20 industrialised and developing nations in Pittsburgh.
According to the document, obtained by Reuters, EU leaders will urge the G20 to reiterate their stance against protectionism in light of concern some countries, notably the United States and China, could become embroiled in a trade war.
EU leaders also welcomed "full implementation" of the $250 billion trade finance package agreed at the last G20 meeting in London in April, the document said. (Reporting by Jan Strupczewski; Writing by Darren Ennis; Editing by Dale Hudson)
