GENEVA, Oct 1 (Reuters) - European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana said on Thursday Iran had said it planned to cooperate fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA on inspections of a new enrichment faciitiy.

Solana told a news conference after talks between Iran and six world powers that Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili had promised that Iran would allow inspections within "a few weeks" and "soon".

"This is only a start and we shall need to see progress, some of the practical steps we have discussed today (regarding the new enrichment plant)," he said. (Reporting by Lou Charbonneau; Editing by Jonathan Lynn)
