AMSTERDAM, March 27 (Reuters) - European Central Bank Governing Council member Nout Wellink does not expect a crisis in the Dutch housing market, Dutch financial daily Het Financieele Dagblad reported on Friday.
"If a crisis were now to come in the Dutch housing market -- I don't expect it -- why has nothing been done about this? We warned 10 years ago, but the politicians at the time said no," Wellink was quoted saying in an interview with the newspaper.
Wellink, who also heads the Dutch central bank DNB, added that the DNB had issued a warning for top mortgages back in 1999. (Reporting by Aaron Gray-Block; Editing by Jan Dahinten)
