SYDNEY, Sept 13 (Reuters) - An Australian unit of Investec
Ltd
Investec Global Aircraft Fund, which was launched in February 2008, currently has capital of A$140 million ($129.7 million) and a portfolio of seven aircraft valued at A$500 million. It aims to increase its portfolio to US$1 billion in 12 months, it said in a statement.
Investec in a separate statement said Colin Storrie, who quit Qantas in March as chief financial officer after spending 13 years at the airline, will join its investment committee.
Aircraft funds build a portfolio of planes and lease them to airlines across the world, thus freeing them from holding these high-cost assets in their balance sheet. (Reporting by Narayanan Somasundaram; Editing by Ed Davies)
