GENEVA, Aug 31 (Reuters) - Brazil said on Monday the World Trade Organisation's ruling in the U.S. cotton case entitled it to $800 million retaliation this year, the Brazilian ambassador to the WTO said on Monday.
Brazil could retaliate with $340 million in sanctions in intellectual property or services this year, Roberto Azevedo told a media briefing in Geneva.
It was regrettable that the United States had not yet complied with the WTO's ruling on subsidies and the disregard of trade rules by a key WTO member was a cause for special concern as new agreements were being negotiated, he said. (Reporting by Jonathan Lynn, writing by Sven Egenter)
