Investing.com – More jobs than expected were created in Australia in April, official data showed on Thursday, indicating that the country's labor market remained strong.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics said 33,700 jobs were created during the month, up from 27,700 during March, whose figure was revised up from 19,600.
Economists had expected more modest growth of 22,600 in April.
Following the release of the data, the Australian dollar was up against the greenback, with AUD/USD surging 0.97% to reach 0.9023.
