PARIS, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Henri Proglio, current head of water utility Veolia Environnement and tipped for the top job at French state-owned power group EDF, said on Thursday he was not seeking a new position.
"I am not a candidate for anything," Proglio told Reuters when asked if he was a candidate for the top job at EDF.
Proglio was speaking on the sidelines of a news conference at the Economy Ministry on the training of young workers.
EDF will hold a board meeting at 1800 GMT on Sunday to decide whether Chief Executive Pierre Gadonneix should stay on, or to choose his successor, two sources close to the matter told Reuters on Tuesday.
Proglio has been tipped for the CEO job at the 84 percent state-owned company, along with aides to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, a minister, and the head of a company rescued by Sarkozy when he was finance minister.
