TOKYO, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average rose 0.3 percent on Wednesday, extending gains from a 10-month closing high set the previous day after U.S. economic data pointed to a sustained recovery from the recession.
Toyota Motor Corp opened slightly lower after the world's biggest automaker slipped to its third straight quarterly loss as sales sank in Japan, Europe and the United States, though it forecast a slightly shallower annual loss.
The benchmark Nikkei inched up 30.04 points to 10,405.05, after booking on Tuesday its highest close since early October.
The broader Topix added 0.3 percent to 961.61. (Reporting by Aiko Hayashi)
