NEW YORK, Dec 16 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened slightly higher on Thursday, even as weaker-than-expected results from FedEx underscored worries about the pace of the economic recovery.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 14.42 points, or 0.13 percent, at 11,471.89. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index added 1.48 points, or 0.12 percent, at 1,236.71. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 3.65 points, or 0.14 percent, at 2,620.87.
