NEW YORK, Oct 21 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks extended gains on Thursday, with the Nasdaq Composite up 1 percent on strong corporate earnings while a weaker U.S. dollar and reassuring data from China gave extra support to equities.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 98.12 points, or 0.88 percent, to 11,206.09. The Standard & Poor's 500 added 10.29 points, or 0.87 percent, to 1,188.46. The Nasdaq Composite gained 23.34 points, or 0.95 percent, to 2,480.73.
