NEW YORK, Aug 30 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks fell in the year's lightest volume on Monday as worries about the pace of economic recovery overshadowed data showing a rise in consumer spending and income.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 140.70 points, or 1.39 percent, at 10,009.95. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 15.68 points, or 1.47 percent, at 1,048.91. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 33.66 points, or 1.56 percent, at 2,119.97.
