GENEVA, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Passenger demand in September was 0.3 percent higher than a year ago, while air freight fell 5.4 percent from year-ago levels, International Air Transport Association data showed on Thursday.
IATA said the improvement in passenger demand was misleading and was largely due to an exceptionally weak September 2008, IATA said.
Air freight, a key barometer of the strength of world trade, tends to pick up early in the economic recovery cycle when businesses start to replenish their inventories.
