NEW YORK, Sept 17 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks closed lower on Thursday on concern a rally has become overextended despite some positive economic data.
According to the latest available figures, the Dow Jones industrial average closed down 7.79 points, or 0.08 percent, at 9,783.92. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index fell 3.27 points, or 0.31 percent, at 1,065.49. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 6.40 points, or 0.30 percent, at 2,126.75.
