NEW YORK, Aug 10 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks extended their losses on Monday, as retailers faltered and investors booked profits on the heels of a four-week rally.
* The decline came after a sharp advance in Friday's session, when better-than-expected July employment data pushed the broad S&P 500 to a 10-month high.
* The Dow Jones industrial average fell 77.46 points, or 0.83 percent, to 9,292.61. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 9.45 points, or 0.94 percent, to 1,001.03. The Nasdaq Composite Index slid 20.68 points, or 1.03 percent, to 1,979.57. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; Editing by Jan Paschal)
