NEW YORK, Oct 22 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened mixed on Thursday after data showed new jobless claims rose more than expected and a slew of big corporate earnings reports.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 26.75 points, or 0.27 percent, at 9,976.11. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index added 1 point, or 0.09 percent, at 1,082.40. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 2.41 points, or 0.11 percent, at 2,148.32.
