NEW YORK, Sept 22 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks briefly turned higher on Tuesday after the U.S. Treasury's auction of $43 billion, new two-year notes met with strong demand.
* The Dow Jones industrial average was up 49.88 points, or 0.51 percent, at 9,828.74. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 7.19 points, or 0.68 percent, at 1,071.85. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 8.86 points, or 0.41 percent, at 2,146.90.
