NEW YORK, July 15 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose broadly on Wednesday, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq index up more than 3 percent, as strong results from chip maker Intel Corp lifted hopes for an upward turn in the economy.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 205.11 points, or 2.45 percent, to 8,564.60. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 22.38 points, or 2.47 percent, to 928.22. The Nasdaq Composite Index soared 54.68 points, or 3.04 percent, to 1,854.41.
