NEW YORK, Aug 27 (Reuters) - The Nasdaq followed other major stock indexes higher in afternoon trading on Thursday, led by gains in Apple Inc, and as crude oil prices recovered from earlier losses.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 53.13 points, or 0.56 percent, at 9,596.65. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 3.64 points, or 0.35 percent, at 1,031.76.
