NEW YORK, June 25 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks added to gains on Thursday, with all three major indexes rising more than 2 percent each.
Investors were optimistic that the economic deterioration was receding, while strong demand was seen in an auction of seven-year notes.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 179.11 points, or 2.16 percent, at 8,478.97. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 19.29 points, or 2.14 percent, at 920.23. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 34.18 points, or 1.91 percent, at 1,826.52, after briefly rising more than 2 percent. (Reporting by Caroline Valetkevitch; Editing by Jan Paschal)
