WASHINGTON, July 28 (Reuters) - U.S. Representative Jane Harman, a member of the fiscally conservative Democratic coalition, said on Tuesday it was likely the House of Representatives would recess on Friday without a vote on healthcare reform legislation.
"This is getting hard, very hard," Harman told reporters. She said talks between Democratic groups will continue, adding, "I haven't heard any good news in the last few minutes."
"It sounds like it is not coming up on the House floor" before the recess, she said. She said lawmakers will still work this week to have the legislation voted on in the Energy and Commerce Committee, the last of three to vote on its version. The House is to take a monthlong August recess. (Reporting by Jackie Frank; editing by Mohammad Zargham)
