PARIS, June 8 (Reuters) - Air France-KLM unveiled an 8.1 percent drop in passenger traffic in May and said cargo data confirmed activity stabilised in recent months and capacity was adjusting to demand amid a global economic crisis.
Europe's biggest airline said it carried 6.1 million passengers in May while its seat capacity on offer declined by 5.7 percent. Its load factor -- or proportion of seats sold -- was down 2.0 points to 77.3 percent.
Cargo traffic excluding Martinair, which was consolidated in January, fell 18 percent and capacity was down 14.1 percent, bringing the load factor down 3.0 points to 61.8 percent.
The sharpest fall in passenger traffic came on the Asia-Pacific network, which was down 11.1 percent.
The airline group said passenger traffic was down 7.4 percent on the European network with a load factor down 2.2 points to 70.1 percent. (Reporting by Dominique Vidalon; Editing by Jon Loades-Carter)
